About John Turk

John TurkI was born in Colorado in the Fall of 1974 and never have left. My folks were never beer drinkers opting instead for Vodka and Wine. Somehow my brother and myself developed a love for beer at an early age (can’t go too far into that) but through the years it has become a contest to see who can turn who onto a bigger, better, beer.  I remember my first taste of “micro” beer in the early 90’s when it seemed that craft brews in the square state were really taking off.  Although I still enjoy a PBR every now and then, craft beer has become a second wife to me. Just ask Stacy.

I have been doing the “radio thing” since 1996 where I started at KDUR in Durango.  I have been at AM 760 since February of 2000 with a bevy of duties.  From sports reports, traffic reports,  producing, engineering, play-by-play to pushing buttons, I have tried to do a little of it all.

I am happily married to my beautiful wife  Stacy and have 3 children, Maddie(9), Tyson(7) and Carson (6).  I enjoy family time, seeing live music, playin’ golf,  hangin’ out with friends and trying out all that Colorado has to offer, on tap!

About Gary Valliere

I like beer…..no actually I love beer……the end.

As a young boy in a small Italian Village things were a bit awkward for me. You see I was originally made of pine carved by an old man named Geppetto, until one day I met this cricket and…..nope…nope… wait a minute….that wasn’t me…..that was my friend Shawn.

Ok, I was born #6 of 8 in a small town in northern Massachusetts and grew up in Southern New Hampshire. As you can see by the numbers, this was pre-cable…and yes I am Catholic. Things were pretty normal back then for your typical middle class family of 10 with 1 bathroom.

After graduating High School, in 1984, I decided to try a few years in the military. With strong influence from the movie Stripes, I enlisted in the US Army. I learned fairly quick that I probably wasn’t going to be a career soldier but I also discovered that I didn’t like to stay in one place for any length of time. I left active duty in the spring of ’87 and originally moved back to NH but left for Southern California by late spring of 1988.

After 13 years of bouncing which included stints in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver and Chicago, (mostly Los Angeles, Hermosa Beach) I settled in Colorado in the summer of 2001. My beautiful daughter Corrie was turning 4 and would be starting school so I wanted to create some stability. She is now 13 years old and recently discovered that she is smarter than me.

I had my first craft beers in Spokane, WA in 1991 and sporadically throughout the ‘90’s. I didn’t really start exploring good beer until the early 2k’s and have not been a fan of any of the pale yellow fizzy American lagers since then (I have given urine samples with higher IBU’s).

I am NO expert in home brewing or the craft beer industry nor have I ever claimed to be. I really enjoy good beer and with the help of my friend John Turk and AM760, I hope to create an avenue for the experts to communicate with the fans and participants of this incredible craft beer movement.

Cheers,

Gary
